Position Description

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the Winter 2018 Session:

  • CMMB 413 - Human Genetics

The successful candidate will coordinate the course, and teach approximately half the lectures, as well as coordinating the tutorials. These duties will be considered equivalent to teaching 2/3 of a half-course equivalent (3-unit course).

CMMB 413 deals with the principles of genetics as applied to human and medical genetics. The successful candidate would be responsible for teaching content related to principles of clinical cytogenetics and genome analysis as well as the chromosomal and genomic basis of disease.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in one of the biological sciences and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Genetics or Cell and Molecular Biology, expertise in Eukaryotic Genetics and knowledge of Human Genetics. Previous teaching experience in upper level Genetics courses would be an asset.
